Mulch in the Garden
Mulch is a very important part of landscaping your garden. The first thing you notice is how good it makes your garden look. Mulch serves other functions in the garden that are not as obvious. Mulches cover the soil and help to prevent evaporation of moisture in the garden. This means you have to water less often and your plants have more moisture to take up, so they will grow better. A good layer of mulch helps to prevent weed growth. This saves time and effort and means the weeds aren’t taking goodness from the soil, so there is more for your plants to grow with.
There are many types of mulch and choosing the correct mulch is important for the look and health of your garden and plants. Talk to us at Colin Green’s landscapes about choosing the correct mulch for your garden. See the photos below for examples of mulches and how they are best used in the garden.

These mulches are mainly used in vegetable gardens and annual gardens. These mulches are waste products from agriculture or grown as stock feed but are good mulches when used in the garden. These mulches only last six to twelve months before needing refreshing but they have a much higher goodness amount in them and give more goodness to your plants.
